Programme: You Can Do It with Your Eyes Shut!
Aim & Objectives
This intensive course is designed for individuals who are currently
working or interested in working in the circus and theatre industry.
It focuses on the teaching of different techniques in flying
and static trapeze, drama and voice. The uniqueness of this course
is in its teaching methods that are applicable for individuals
working with blind people in the arts and cultural sector. Therefore,
it aims to provide attendees with new pathways that can improve
their knowledge and competences in formal and informal teaching,
thus helping them to improve their careers and expand their employment
opportunities.
Content
The course will be focusing on body control and body form; theatre
and voice in a physical context; choice of language and importance
of communication; as well as confidence building.
Eligible Applicants
This course is targeted for, but not exclusively to teachers and/or
trainers in the circus and theatre industry; current and future
students of theatre and arts courses, and individuals currently
working or searching for work in the disability and cultural
sectors. We encourage participants to apply from all EU Member
States as having a multinational group will enhance a European
training experience.
Expected Results
By the end of the course, students are expected to be more familiar
with a wide range of new teaching techniques; be able to direct
their students in a more effective manner; establish clear and
positive communication with their students; and increase confidence
in working with blind people.
Trainers
The course is being taught by the following 3 trainers, who have
extensive experience in teaching courses related to circus and
theatre:
Etty Eliot, is a British artist and
director who has been in the show world sector for over 20 years.
She has worked with various acclaimed companies including Les Colporteurs,
Turbo Unit and Teatro Au Largo (Foots Barn Theatre Company). She
is highly trained in various circus disciplines including trapeze
and dance. She has acted both on stage and screen and has a passion
for directing stage and circus.
Guiom Quillard, is
a French artist who have worked as a trapeze catcher for the last
20 years. He has worked with well know companies like Les Arts
Saut – Archaos - Les Colporteurs Zanzibar and Cie Oncore.
He has been touring the world for many years, working with over
** different nationalities. He has a wide range of talents including
professional trapeze rigger and rig creator. Along with Etty Eliot,
he has created Cie Oncore which focuses on performance training
creations.
Other Important Information
Certification
At the end of the course, each participant will receive a Certificate
of Attendance highlighting the skills acquired.
Languages
The official language of the course is English, but trainers have
knowledge of French, Spanish.
Material
OnCore will provide each participant with relevant material on
subjects presented during the course.
Preparation
All participants are to present a short presentation about their
profession and their work place (if applicable). We strongly
advise participants to share best practices and difficulties
they face in their careers, during the course to fully benefit
from a learning experience.
Price
The price for the whole course is 1800 € inclusive of tax.
This rate includes tuition fees, improvisational performance, and
distributed materials during the course. The fee does not include
accommodation, food and transport fees.
Registration
All participants are expected to register for the course as early
as possible as selection is based on first come first served
basis. Participants are to send an email to Etty Eliot by 25
July not later than 1st August 2013 which is the final date for
confirmation of attendance. There are no registration fees.
Equal Opportunities
Selection of participants is based on first come first served basis
until the maximum number of 10 participants is reached. Selection
is not based on sex, race, religion and ethnic groupings. The
facilities used for the training course are fully accessible
for wheelchair participants.
